  • 13 November, 2011: Record numbers of Short Eared Owls coming across the North Sea this Autumn due to the best breeding season in fifty years
  • 12 November, 2011: 32 European White fronted Geese flew over Appleby Golf course and were then seen at Leighton Moss
  • 11 November, 2011: 30 Whooper Swan at Kirkby Thore near Appleby
  • 11 November, 2011: Black redstart seen at Workington between the new pier and old pier on the rock
  • 2 January, 2002: Iceland Gull - 1 between Redhills and New Sandsfield still
